24 Feb 1958	The opening ceremony of the hall was officiated on February 24,1958 by YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra, the first Prime Minister of Malaya. It was then named the Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall in his honour. In conjunction with its official opening, the Economy Commission for Asia and the Far East (ECAFE) conference took place at the premises marking it as the first international level conference ever held there.
