Malaysia Theatre Festival (19-26 August 2006)
The festival in its entirely were held at 3 different venues respectively Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall, Mini Auditorium and Amphitheatre from 19 till 26 August 2006. Theatre competition/contest was held in Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall, the Monologue presentations at Mini Auditorium and the Traditional Arts segment was performed at the Amphitheatre. The performances starts at 8.30pm. The launching ceremony took place at Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall on the 19 August 2006. The festivals was organised by the National Arts and Cultural Department, Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage Malaysia

The 10th Solo Classical Ballet Competition was held at Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall, MTC on 9 to 11 June 2006. This competition divided to three categories. First category was for 18 to 23 years old, second category was for 15 to 17 years old and third category was for 11 to 14 years old. This competition was organised by The Dance Society Of Malaysia.

“Citrarasa Malaysia” In Conjunction With The Food & Fruits Fiesta 2003 (18 - 20 July 2003)
In conjunction with The Food and Fruits Fiesta month 2003, “Citrarasa Malaysia” an annual event organised by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism sees a few record breaking event such as "52 hours non-stop relay satay skewering and grilling" and the biggest “chocolate sculpture of Putrajaya landscape" measuring 3.7m x 2.7m x 1.1m and weighing 250kg. Lots of interesting competition was also organised such as ice-cream eating competition, mee maggi cooking, pineapple counting competition, tea-tarik pulling competition, watermelon eating competition etc.

Minister of Culture, Arts & Tourism Malaysia, Y.B Dato’ Paduka Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir officiating the Festival Theatre Malaysia on the 31st July 2003, 8.00pm at MTC. The festival took place from 31st July till 10th August 2003 with theatre groups nation wide participating representing each state. The closing was done by Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Raja Muda Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah Ibni Sultan Azlan Muhibuddin Shah. Theatre titled “Misi” by Faisal Tehrani, performed by Angkatan Budaya Balik Pulau, Penang won the 1st prize.

Amongst the local talented artiste performing in this theatre were Opie Zami, Zami Ismail, Abon, Sathiya, Ruvian, Hasmiati, Ikhwan and Affendey.

"Gelombang Baru" (11 - 13 May 2003)
“Gelombang Baru” is an annual selected program organised by The National Arts Academy from 11 – 13 May 2003 at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall to expose young Malaysian choreographer towards better understanding of challengers they would probably encounter in the world of dancing arts. This kind of program would be able to assist in enhancing and market their knowledge and work of art.

An official visit to the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism by Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong at MTC, 8 May 2003 9.00am – 12.30pm. A keynote address and speech was delivered by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Mohd Azmi Abdul Razak, Chief Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism and followed by a question and answer sessions. Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong also visited the exhibition booth and witnessed the Cultural Show at the Mini Auditorium, MTC.

Federal Territory Festival Theatre was held from 26 April to 3 May 2003, 8.30pm at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall, MTC. Among the performances staged during the festival were “Dendam Berdarah”, Kelab Teater Kota Kuala Lumpur on the 26 April 2003, “Rumah Kedai Jalan Seladang” by the Akar Gita Estetika, 27 April 2003, “Mahkamah Keadilan” by the Group Teater Mekar on the 28 April 2003, “Awal, Tengah, Akhir” by the Group Teater Artis Kreatif on 29 April 2003, “Mikraj Mencari Kebenaran” by Anak Soleh Group on 30 April 2003, “Si Bereng-Bereng” by Kelab Kilat TNB on 1 May 2003, “Di Pulau Sa Dan Di” by Kumpulan Teater Isum on 2 May 2003 and “Orang Kasar” by Kumpulan Giat Budaya on 3 May 2003. “Mahkamah Keadilan” by Group Teater Mekar was announced the winner of this festival followed by “Orang Kasar” by Kumpulan Giat Budaya second placing and “Si Bereng-Bereng” by Kelab Kilat TNB winning the third placing. Interesting arts & culture programs were also staged prior to the show at the Amphitheatre 8.00pm every night such as “kompang” , “muzik nusantara”, “wayang kulit siam”, “dikir barat”, “lagu asli”, “lagu puisi” and “boria”. This festival was a joint collaboration between the Federal Territory of Culture & Arts Office, Kuala Lumpur Theatre Council, MTC and City Hall Kuala Lumpur.

MTC Arts & Craft Market was held from 1 - 4 May 2003, 10.00am - 7.00pm. Among items sold and displayed were accessories, cross-stitch cards, home decorative items, batik prints and products, textiles, ceramic and pottery wares, exclusive art exhibition by a group of talented local artists & artistic presentations of the renowned Anuar Dan, Zaim Durulaman, Nizar Kamal Ariffin, Zainurin Mohamad and Sandra Knuyt was held at the handicraft shop at MTC. The organiser of this interesting event is Shopping Malaysia Secretariat and event was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Culture, Arts and Tourism, Y.B. Dato’ Dr. Ng Yen Yen.

"A Kind of Radiance" (19 - 23 March 2003)
“A Kind of Radiance” with Ramli Ibrahim (Artistic Director) and The Sutra Dancers in collaboration with Guru Durga Charan Ranbir with live music from Orissa, India was performed at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall from 19 till 23 March 2003. Y.A. Bhg. Datuk Seri Endon Mahmood was present at the show as the guest of honour for Gala Premiere on 19 March 2003. Charity performances presented by Rotary Club Kuala Lumpur North on 20th and 21st March 2003 followed by the public performances on 22nd and 23rd March 2003. “A Kind of Radiance” Malaysia Odissi Tour also toured several towns in Malaysia from 19 March till 11 April 2003 such as Johor, Langkawi, Penang and Seremban.

A Day With Clients
A day with clients is held at MTC's Foyer every third Saturday of the month. Clients would be able to obtain information about MTC especially on the events and space available for rental from the officer in charge.
MTC Weekend Bazaar
Fascinating Weekend Bazaar at MTC was held every Sunday from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm during the March Mega Sale Carnival. There were about 30 stalls selling a host of attractive gifts and souvenir items, arts, books, collectables and crafts, some of which are quite rare. Children were entertained by the clown, busker carnival, puppet shows, contests and competitions. Special discounts for luncheon at the Saloma Bistro & Theatre Restaurant were given exclusively to the shoppers at the Bazaar.

Pick-up The Pieces II (26 - 27 September 2002)
Pick-up The Pieces II", a vocal and musical presentation by the lecturers and students from the Music Program, National Arts Academy on 26 & 27 September 2002 at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall, 8.30 pm. It was divided into two (2) segments:- 1st night - classical and traditional musical performances. 2nd night - jazz, modern and contemporary musical performances. Classical music was performed among others by the calibred lecturers, Takahisa Ota (classical music); Syafinaz Selamat (vocal), Jeffrey Yong (guitar). While traditional music was played by Fadzil Ahmad, Rahim Jantan; jazz and modern by Aznul Haidi, Zaidi Ahmad, Ruslan Imam, James Boyle, Rosdan Abbas etc.

"Merdeka Poem Declamation", another activity organised by MTC at the Amphitheatre, MTC, 8.30pm in conjunction with the 45th celebration of Independence Day. Co-organised by MTC and The Federal Territory Culture & Arts Office, this event took place from 14 to 15 September 2002 and was officiated by Puan Norliza Rofli, Department Secretary, Dept of Culture Development, Ministry of Culture, Arts & Tourism. Amongst others who took part were Elifa Idris, Kalam Hamidi, Mustafa Salleh, Jasmin Deo, Kumpulan Puisi DIA, Sulaiman Yassin etc.

Dance 2002 - Celebrating Asian Dance featuring dances from the selected dance group from the Asian countries such as The Republic of China, Vietnam, India, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. This dance festival was held from 8-11 October 2002, 8.30 pm at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall, MTC organised by The National Arts Academy since 1994 (Dance '94) in conjunction with it's formation.

Radio Remote Control Car Racing Competition was an activity organised by MTC in conjunction with the 45th celebration of the Independence Day. This event took place on 8 September 2002 from 9.00 am till 5.00 pm at the MTC's car park and was successfully participated by the radio remote control enthusiasts who came from all over Malaysia.

Dance Festival for the Federal Territory Level 2002 at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall, MTC on 14 September 2002. The objectives of this festival are to develop and enhance the quality of performances of the dance troupes which have been very active in every states towards inculcating passion for the arts and culture among advocates, to encourage the formation of more dance groups, as well as to preserve and develop our national heritage.
Sauces Night (7 September 2002)
"Sauces Night" inspired by Ms. Junainah M. Lojong, a graduate from the National Arts Academy was held on 7 September 2002 at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall, MTC. It was a combination of all types of dances choreographed using sauces which was learned through out the formation of the National Arts Academy by it's student including those originating from Peninsular and West Sumatera.
Indonesian Cultural Evening (28 August 2002)
To commemorate their 57th years of Independence, The Republic of Indonesia Embassy had organised "The Indonesian Cultural Evening" on 28 August 2002, 8.30pm at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall, MTC. Amongst other traditional dance performed were "Rampak Rebana", "Ringkang Topeng", "Rantak", "Makalangan", "Rampak Kendang", "Gentra Pinutri" and "Rampai Aceh".
Traditional Cultural Festival - "The Magic of Terinai" (6 August 2002)
"The Magic of Terinai" was a special dance performance from the state of Perlis. This dance was performed by the students of National Arts Academy under the coaching of Dr. Chandrabanu, on 6 August 2002, 8.30pm at the Mini Auditorium, MTC.
Traditional Cultural Festival - "Rodat"
"Rodat" is a dance derive from the Terengganu palace. It's said to be brought by Sambas and Pontianak businessman from the isle of Borneo. Rodat is performed by three groups comprising male dances, female dancers (Mak Inang) and musician (pengadi). The dancers will sing and dance according to the beat of "zikir" songs and melody. Rodat is meant to entertain and to provide advice through their lyric which touches on the religion and way of life. Previously, Rodat is performed during festivities including "beach worship" (man pantai) and to celebrate the rulers (Sultan) day of birth. Now it's revived again by culture organisation as one of the important performing arts.
Traditional Cultural Festival - "Rebana Kercing"
"Rebana kercing" is also known as 'Tarian Dikir Hadra' and its combination of two elements, namely music and dance. Rebana Ubi is synonymous with Kelantan folks and forms part of their cultural pastime. It's said that Rebana Kercing originate from the Arab country since the time of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. It's also believe that Rebana Kercing is derived in memory of a dance and poem of a pregnant deer and its hunter. Rebana are played by some 6 to 12 drummers and they provide song for 12 dancers. During the dance the rebana drummers will equally sing songs that preached on Islam. Among these songs include Halaya, Sallu'alan, Annabi Ilmustafa, Yazalalaliwal Ikram and Muammadun. Rebana Kercing is also frequently performed at palaces and other cultural ceremonies.
Traditional Cultural Festival - "Hamdolok"
"Hamdolok" is a traditional theatre about the Javanese community from Batu Pahat, Johor. It is a blend of artistic characters of both the Middle-East and local Malay communities. "Hamdolok" was inspired by a Malay traditional musician by the name of Mr. Rahmat from Singapore who lived in Parit Besar, Batu Pahat, Johor. It was also inspired by the Bedouin celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W playing musical instruments and reciting poetry. It has now being cultivated as our local culture.
Food Fiesta - "Jom Rasa Rendang" (20 July 2003)
Food Fiesta - "Jom Rasa Rendang" was held at MTC on 20th July 2002 officiated by Y. Bhg. Puan Sri Suslita Abdul Majid, Yang DiPertua PUSPANITA Kebangsaan. It was co-organised by The National Archives of Malaysia and Ministry of Culture, Arts & Tourism. A discussion forum on "rendang" was arranged at the Mini Auditorium followed by demonstrations on cooking of "rendang" from all states in Malaysia.
Non-stop 48 hours "Kway Teow" Cooking Demonstration
Non-stop 48 hours "kway teow" cooking demonstration by the Chef Association of Malaysia has made its way to the Malaysia Book of Record. During the attempt, every one was welcomed to taste the kway teow. A long queue was seen during the period.
Fruits Stalls
Sales of local fruits such as durians, mangosteen, jack fruit, rambutans etc for the three (3) consecutive days during the Flavours of Malaysia was opened to the public as well as foreign tourists who took the opportunity to buy and appreciate the tastefulness of our local fruits. The fruits were sold at a bargain after midnight.

Durian Juice Drinking Competition organised by the Tropical Agro Farm received an overwhelming response from foreign tourists as well as locals.

Fruits and vegetables carving demonstration by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel which won the first placing under the category of the most beautiful and clean stalls for hotels during the Flavours of Malaysia at MTC.
Teh Tarik Demonstration
"Teh tarik" musical demonstration, another interesting activity was organised during the Flavours of Malaysia. The audience from all walks of life were welcomed to participate to "pull" tea tarik using a container provided with the help of a few steps demonstrated to them.

The biggest dining table ice carving sculpture in Malaysia carved by the Chefs Association of Malaysia and the National Ice Carving Champion at the Flavours of Malaysia in conjunction with the Food & Fruits Fiesta 2002 on 12 - 14th July 2002. It has been recorded in the Malaysia Book of Records.

MTC Arts & Crafts market was held on 21 - 23 February 2003 at MTC in conjunction with the-XIII NAM Summit. MTC Arts & Crafts market was launched by Y.Bhg. Dato' Azmi Razak, Chief Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism. There are many activities during that day such as balloon clown & unicycle performance, music buskers performance, stilt walker performance, rubberman performance, fire eater performance, magician performance, snake charmer performance etc.

Children Drawing Competition co-organised by Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism Malaysia and National Arts Gallery in conjunction with the program "A Day with MTC" was held on 27 October 2002 (Sunday) at MTC's Office Foyer from 10.00am to 12.00pm. This competition opened to children under 12 years old and categorized to three part : *Category A (6 - 8 years) *Category B (9 - 10 years) *Category C (11 - 12 years)
Top Spiking Competition (6 - 8 September 2002)
In conjunction with the 45th National Day, a Top Spiking Competition was held at the Top Spiking Arena, MTC 6 - 8 September 2002 at 8.30am to 6.30pm. It is the venue for the top spiking enthusiast to preserve and rejuvenate this traditional games for our future generation.
Pewter Exhibition
This pewter exhibition was held during the 14th ASEAN Congress of Cardiology at MTC. Pewter is grey alloy of tin with lead or other metal. The articles made of this such as brooch etc.
Batik Demonstration
This Batik Demonstration was brought from Johor during the 14th ASEAN Congress of Cardiology at MTC. Batik is a method of painting designs on textiles by waxing parts not to be dyed. The examples are such as fabric printed etc.
Basket Plaiting
Basket Weaving made from bamboo was demonstrated to the participants of the 14th ASEAN Congress of Cardiology on 19th July 2002. Amongst other things weaved during the demonstration was basket, hand fan, bag etc.
Embroidery (19 July 2002)
Embroidery demonstration displayed during the ASEAN Congress of Cardiology on 19th July 2002. Embroidery is where the cloth decorated with patterns sewn in thread of various colours.
Shadow Play (8 June 2002)
Wayang Kulit Kedah was performed at Amphitheatre, MTC on June 8, 2002 at 8.00pm by Wayang Kulit Seri Asun Group from Kedah in conjunction with The Colours of Malaysia 2002.
Top Spinning Competition (26 October 2001)
Top spinning competition which was held in conjunction with the official launching of MTC's new logo on 26 October 2001. This 2 days competition was participated by the gasing associations all over Malaysia. Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan gasing association was declared the winner in this competition.

The Sound of Music was staged at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall on 27, 28 February & 1 March 2003, presented by the students of St. Mary Secondary School, KL.
An Islamic Musical Drama - "Taman Ramadhan" (10 - 12 Jan 2003)
An Islamic Musical Drama for charity titled "Taman Ramadhan" was staged at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall, MTC from 10 - 12 January, 8.30 pm. This work of art was directed by the local artist, Sheqal.
Theatre King Lear (17 - 20 October 2002)
"King Lear", a theatre directed by En. Marzuki Ali and performed by the students of the National Arts Academy from 17 - 20 October 2002, 8.30pm at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall, MTC. The event was made success thru the contribution of actors and actresses such as Ahmad Yatim, Ismaliza Ishak, Hamzah Tahir, Saiful Bakhtiar, Amira Sariyati and Zuriah Mohamad.
Theatre Bakai (28 September 2002)
This theatre titled "Bakai" was performed by the students of the National Arts Academy on 28 September 2002 at the Amphitheatre, MTC.
Malaysia Theatre Festival 2002 (2 - 11 August 2002)
The Malaysia Theatre Festival 2002 was held at MTC from 2 - 11 August 2002 and simultaneously at City Hall Kuala Lumpur from 4 - 10 August 2002. It was officiated by the National Laureate, YBhg. Datuk A. Samad Said, at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall, MTC. This theatre was well represented by all states. Amongst the plays presented during the festival were "Pasrah" from Akrab, Kedah, "Perempuan Seorang Leftenan Inggeris" from Theatre Malinja Group, Selangor, "Sang Puteri" from Pendua Group, Johor, "Protes" from Anak Emas Raub, Pahang, "Antithesis" from Aspek, etc. The Taditional Arts Festival was also held then at the Amphitheatre, MTC staged "Mek Mulong", "Randai", "Hamdolok", "Rebana Kercing", "Rodat", Poetry Songs, Traditional Musics, "Ghazal" and Songs for the people. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Convent Taiping, Perak performing The Lord of The Land was announced the champion. The King and I performed by Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Convent Klang, Selangor was announced the 1st runner up.
Secondary School English Drama Competition (18 July 2002)
Secondary School English Drama Competition at the National Level was held at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall on 18th July 2002 officiated by Datuk Abdul Rafie bin Mahat, Ketua Pengarah Pendidikan Malaysia. The contestants in this competition were Sekolah Menengah Convent St. Francis, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Convent Taiping, Perak, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Convent Klang, Selangor dan Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Majidi, Johor Bahru, Johor. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Convent Taiping, Perak performing The Lord of The Land was announced the champion. The King and I performed by Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Convent Klang, Selangor was announced the 1st runner up.
Federal Territory Theatre Festival 2002 (3 - 11 July 2002)
Theatre Festival for the Federal Territory 2002 co-organised by the Federal Territory Arts & Culture Office, Kuala Lumpur Theatre Council and Malaysia Tourism Centre was held here from 3 - 11 July 2002 at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall 8.30pm. Among other theatres that have been staged were "Angin Madinah" by the "Karyawan Bandaraya" Group, "Atap Genting Atap Rumbia" by the "Giat Budaya" Group, etc. Theatre with the title "Sang Puteri" has been declared champion this year.
Bangsawan Theatre - Menjunjung Duli Mahkota (7 - 9 June 2002)
This theatre was performed by Persatuan Seni Kebangsaan Bintang Timur in collaboration with Federal Territory of Culture and Arts Office, National Arts Academy and Malaysia Tourism Centre. Directed by Rahman B, this show was staged at Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall, MTC 8.30pm.
Chinese Drama - Green Hope (18 - 20 May 2002)
This Chinese drama titled Green Hope was performed by Hainan Association of Kuala Lumpur at Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall from May 18 to 20, 2002.
Theatre "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" (23 April - 11 May 2002)
This English comedy theatre was specially performed by Gardner & Wife from April 23 until May 11. Directed by Richard Gardner and Chae Lian as the producer, the show featured Chef Wan (Pseudolos), Reza Zainal Abidin, Lim Soon Heng, Edna Tan, Olivia Anne Goonting, Joanna Saw and Yves Yap.
Experimental Theatre - A Midsummer Night's Dream (16 - 18 April 2002)
The theatre was performed by National Arts Academy at Amphitheatre, MTC from April 16, 2002 to April 18, 2002. Directed by Rohani Yousoff, the show was adaptation of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream. It was performed by 50 children, teenagers and adults at Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall from April 6 to 11, 2002.
Children's Theatre - Sewang Rimba (6 - 11 April 2002)
This children's theatre was directed by Ladin Nuawi and produced by the Sanggar Seni Intan Kebayan with the collaboration of ANGKA, Kuala Lumpur Cultural and Arts office, Malaysia Tourism Centre, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, MERCY MALAYSIA and SRIKANDI TUN FATIMAH. It was performed by 50 children, teenagers and adults at Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium Hall from April 6 to 11, 2002.
Makyong Traditional Theatre - Dewa Indera Indera Dewa (4 - 7 April 2002)
The theatre was performed by the National Arts Academy at Amphitheatre, MTC from April 4, 2002 to April 7, 2002. It was directed by Norizam Zakaria and Fatimah Abdullah and co-organised by ASK and the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism Malaysia.
